In September, Homewatch CareGivers Northshore held its Fall In-Service for our caregivers. We had the special privilege of having Heartland Hospice and Clinical Rehab Services come in and provide our caregivers with presentations on specialized patient care.
Rhonda from Clinical Rehab Services discussed the importance of safely working with clients that need assistance with mobility or transferring. She discussed and demonstrated safe ways to help transfer clients, the importance of proper body mechanics, and the important role caregivers play to a client’s physical and occupational therapy. Visit Clinical Rehab Services to find out more about the services they provide.
Susan from Heartland Hospice gave a presentation on the intrinsic role caregivers play as support to clients under hospice care, as well as to their family. She discussed the various roles of the Hospice Care Team, including nurses, therapists, social worker, and bereavement support. Visit Heartland Hospice to read more about the services they provide.
Our Caregivers of the Month were also awarded and recognized for their hard work and efforts. Shaun has been with Homewatch since April and has been one of our go-to people for filling in shifts on short notice, and his clients all have positive things to say about him! Margaret has been rock-solid with her client, Mr. S.–since starting with him in January 2014 she has only missed 5 days of the 382 she has been scheduled, she always clocks in on time, and her Daily Activity Logs are never late! Linda Joined us in June and immediately jumped into a complex case caring for a husband and wife, and she has volunteered to work through her days off in order to avoid the client getting a sub when her reliever wasn’t available.
