Homewatch CareGivers Northshore Teams Up with AgeOptions to Help Seniors Prevent Fall Risks
Homewatch CareGivers Northshore has been a proud sponsor and supporter of AgeOptions’ mission to promote independence for older adults in their own homes. AgeOptions recently celebrated 45 years as a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting older adults with resources and service options within their community.
In 2018 alone, AgeOptions reported staggering numbers that demonstrated the countless ways they have helped seniors all across the Suburban Cook County Area. Amongst many of their accomplishments, they have helped deliver over 1 million meals to the homes of elders, provided over 66,000 home care service hours, and helped over 4,500 seniors transition from nursing home into the community.
AgeOptions held it’s 15th Annual Networking Reception and Silent Auction on October 3rd, an Event dedicated to raise awareness and support for the growing and diverse aging population of Suburban Cook County. Lisa Parker of NBC5 hosted the evening, leading a discussion on the importance of fall prevention.
Falls can happen to anyone at any time, but the risk and consequences increase within the elder population. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 1 out of 3 older people, age 65 and older, fall each year. Homewatch CareGivers, along with AgeOptions, acknowledge the importance of bringing awareness and encouraging people to make necessary changes to help prevent falls.
