As part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE), should be removed and discarded safely after each use.
Homewatch CareGivers provides a step-by-step guidance on how to safely remove PPE:
- Use gloved hand to remove the other glove by pulling it off from the wrist and turning it inside out. Ball it up in gloved hand.
- Using ungloved hand, insert finger inside of 2nd glove and put off at the wrist, turning it inside out. Discard gloves in trash.
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water is not readily available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Remove masks use loops or ties, pulling it away from your face. Avoid touching your face. Discard mask in trash.
