A kind, caring and compassionate caregiver can make a huge difference in the life of a senior. That is exactly what why Josephine Okutu is the Homewatch CareGivers caregiver of the year.
First and foremost, she does an amazing job of caring for her clients, putting her whole heart into what she does. The daughter of one of her current clients sent the following email:
“We have been blessed with Josephine to care for my Mom…I have so much comfort being out of state with this amazing woman to help her. Mom has become so fond of her…She has exact high standards when it comes to my mom. Josephine joined my mom right after she got out of major back surgery. It was so scary to leave mom but when I met Josephine and spent a day or so together, I could tell Mom would be in capable hands. We feel beyond grateful and I am not surprised the she was earned the Caregiver of the Year award—she is a wonderful example of a caregiver.”
This is not the first client that has spoken so highly of the care and attention our caregiver of the year has provided to her clients. She has had long relationships with several other clients who have expressed deep appreciation for Josephine’s caring heart.
There is something else that makes Josephine a special and amazing person and caregiver. She has worked 221 days in 2018 and she has not missed a scheduled day, nor has she ever been ever. What makes this on-time record remarkable is that Josephine uses public transportation to get to her clients!
So take that old line of ‘neither rain nor sleet nor snow nor dark of night shall keep the mailman from his rounds’ and change it to apply to Josephine—and the combination of her steadfastness and caring ways are why Josephine is our Caregiver of the Year 2018!
